Summer Hair Hacks

Jul 31, 2020

Sweat, frizz, fading color… Oh the glories of summer. It looks like your hair has made it through July, but August is going to be another hot one. Our trim.co stylists are always on the go – in and out of onsite salons – so they’re pretty much pros at handling all the heat. Here are their professional tips for maintaining your hairstyle, makeup and sanity for the next month:

Your summer routine should include protection against the sun, but not just skin protection. If you color your hair and spend time outdoors, your beautiful highlights are likely to fade. Protect your investment by using products like Redken’s Color Extend Shampoo and Conditioner. If you soak in the sun from the pool, you’ll want to remember to rinse and wash your hair shortly after you get home to avoid discoloration and damage.

When you know you’re going to be on-the-go, try styling with accessories. Hair scarfs are in, and you should totally embrace them. If you have a trek to your office, scarfs are perfect for covering a little bit of sweat and oil. After styling your hair, if you wish to wear makeup, reach for a tinted moisturizer with an SPF for a lighter coverage. This won’t sweat off as visibly as foundation, and will protect your face from sun damage.

Our stylists’ secret weapon: travel-sized dry shampoo. Throw it in your bag in the morning for a touch-up during a break. And when in doubt ladies – go for the top bun.

Last but definitely not least, make sure to wear a CLEAN mask. You should really clean your mask like you would a sweaty shirt, but not only for the sake of sanitation. Have you noticed your face breaking out more than usual? The mask may be the culprit, as a dirty mask may cause breakouts or irritation.

Have questions specific to your hair/skin type? Ask us next time you’re in the chair or email info@trim.co. Happy August! Stay cool.
